IGHEM 1996 - Montreal
A first seminar was organized by Jean-Marc Levesque and Serge Mollicone of Hydro-Quebec in Montreal in June 1996. It was attended by over 100 delegates from 17 countries and featured the presentation of 37 technical papers. The subjects of the paper ranged from flow measuring techniques using pressure-time, thermodynamic, acoustic, and current-meter methods and a new technique using scintillation properties of a fluid in motion (random fluctuations of turbulence) to the efficiency step-up or scale effects between a physical model and a prototype. A bound transaction of the proceedings and papers had been published and available to the attendees. The first day of seminar included a tour of Hydro Quebecs's Beauharnois hydro station and a demonstration of a simulated pressure-time (Gibson) method of flow measurement. A separate social program and tour was provided for accompanying spouses and all were treated to a dinner of French cuisine in Montreal's Olympic Tower followed by a view of the famed Montreal fireworks competition.
